Database Engineer

Responsibilities

Position will lead all aspects of database design efforts, including the complete requirements analysis, design, development, testing of database applications. Provide technical direction for database design, maintenance, and administration. Evaluate and recommend available products after matching user requirements with system capabilities. Develop and formulate standards, procedures, and conventions for database use.  Manage database security from accidental or intentional loss or damage. Position will determine the file organization, parsing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications.

Qualifications

BSCE or equivalent required. Extensive experience with both commercial automotive and military design considerations for diagnostic data storage and display strongly preferred. Experience with portal technologies preferred.  Experience with developing and formulating standards, procedures, and conventions for database use preferred.  Experience in managing data from vehicle tracking solutions to include GPS, wireless communications (802.11, Cellular, satellite), vehicle networks (CAN, J1708, SCI, J1850, etc), networking communications (RS232, RS422, RS485), and sensors (Analog, digital) is strongly preferred.  Experience with determining the file organization, indexing methods, and security procedures for specific user applications preferred.  Ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision.  Ability to work cooperatively with others and to work under pressure of deadlines and customer requirements.  Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  7 years of experience with database design, maintenance, and administration.  MS SQL Server required.  Coldfusion, Java, and PERL preferred.  Ability to travel by air and/or motor vehicle as needed.
