Applications Engineer

Responsibilities

Position will participate in the design, configuration, and deployment for a Web-based application suite of software tools for use in vehicle diagnostic and fleet management applications. Candidate will provide technical input for application development environment and database design.  Assist in management of application and database security from accidental or intentional loss or damage. Assist in management of the operations and maintenance for these systems once deployed and provide technical input.  Develop stored procedures and optimize code for performance. Provide Web application support to the client, using ColdFusion MX, XML, JavaScript, and CSS as needed. Maintain and enhance existing Web-based applications and participate in the development of a fast-paced Web-development environment.

Qualifications

BSCE or equivalent required.  Extensive experience with both commercial automotive and military design considerations for diagnostic data storage and display applications strongly preferred. Experience with portal technologies preferred.  Experience in managing data from vehicle tracking solutions to include GPS, wireless communications (802.11, Cellular, satellite), vehicle networks (CAN, J1708, SCI, J1850, etc), networking communications (RS232, RS422, RS485), and sensors (Analog, digital) is strongly preferred.  Ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision.  Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  3-5 years of experience with real time web based application design and development. Coldfusion required. MS SQL Server strongly recommended.  Java, VB, .NET and PERL preferred.  Ability to work cooperatively with others and to work under pressure of deadlines and customer requirements required.  Ability to travel by air and/or motor vehicle as needed required.
